Lynell Harlow was a SUCCESS

We had Lynell Harlow from Dreamweavers Stencils to teach us two exciting techniques classes and everyone that was in class definitely learned what to do now with those beautiful stencils.  A big Thank you to Marsha and Laura for helping out in the two classes, it did make the day run smooth.  Laura was just recently accepted for the design team of Dreamweavers, and everyone was able to see the beautiful work that she does with them.  Here are a few pictures of these classes.

well bloggers we made it!  today is the final day of sneak peeks before packing everything up and heading to chicago for the cha-summer trade show where all of these products will be released.  it's been a busy year for me designing all of these new things - i can't wait for all of you to get your hands on them.  thank you all so much for sharing your excitement and anticipation for the new products.  like i've been saying all week, i've saving the biggest announcement for last because today i'm sharing with you my new die cutting machine in my alterations line with sizzix.  i know many of you saw the video blogs of the "preview" we did back in january at the cha-winter show in preparation for our cha-summer launch - well it's here!  i am happy to introduce to you the "vagabond"...

"a vagabond is an idle wanderer having an uncertain or irregular course of direction, leading a carefree style - which is exactly what our creative journey should be all about..."

the vagabond is a personal die cut machine unlike anything you have ever seen before, and trust me when i say it works like no other machine too.  this portable, fully electric motorized machine, makes die cutting and embossing incredibly simple and truly limitless.  i wanted a machine that was more powerful than any machine out in the market.  why???  simple, i want it to cut and emboss thicker materials like grungeboard, chipboard, bookboard, metal, canvas, acrylic in addition to layers of cardstock, grungepaper, and fabrics.  this powerhouse not only cuts with ease, but embosses full sheets of grungeboard and chipboard with out any hesitation...
of course not only did this machine have to work like no other, it needed to look the part too.  that's where the challenges really came in and everyone at sizzix did an amazing job in sharing the same creative visions - thank you so much!  i designed a machine to resembles a vintage suitcase that has traveled the world with it's unique hardware, nostalgic texture, and distressed finish.  i designed a machine that looked artful enough to leave out yet entirely compact so it wouldn't take up much space.  i designed a machine that could cut and emboss any art medium i wanted to use so i wasn't limited to just paper.  the vagabond is truly everything i imagined it to be...
so i leave you with a few photos of the cool hand-sketched, vintage suitcase styled packaging it will come in (shipping late september), and of course the machine both opened and closed.  as you can see we've made quite a few changes since it's earlier debut including collapsible guide rails, antiqued texture and finish (it even comes with themed luggage stickers you can put on your machine), and a quiet motor you have to hear to believe.   i am beyond excited to share with you, the long awaited release of the new vagabond machine - i just can't wait to show you all it can do!  i'll be posting videos from the cha show next week so stay tuned! ...t!m

Lynell Harlow, owner and designer of Dreamweaver Stencils, is preparing to teach two classes at Scrap Tales Saturday, July 24. Lynell will demonstrate her unique techniques for working with her stencil designs. She'll tell you all about her new designs and new product releases that she will debut at CHA.

We know we have a lot of Dreamweaver Stencil fans out there so you will not want to miss these classes - students still talk about her previous visit and all the wonderful techniques they learned from her.

Lunch will be provided for those attending both classes.

Lynell's first class begins at 11 a.m. and will focus on "Crackle Paste Techniques." Join her as she teaches you step-by-step techniques of using Crackle Paste that is formulated for using metal stencils on paper. Then you will have fun learning to stencil with two stenciling mediums including the NEW Metallic F/X Powders. Students need to bring 2 gold-handled Dreamweaver Stencil brushes; all other materials are provided. This class is $40.

In her second class, "Putting on the Glitz"which begins at 2 p.m., Lynell teaches techniques for using three different mediums for adding pizzazz to your cardwork. Microbeads, glitter and mica powders are materials to be reckoned with when you work with metal stencils. Come take a class with Lynell and you'll learn tips and techniques to make your design time easier. All materials provided. This class is $40.

Silhouette Workshop focuses on Glass Etching Laura will lead this monthly workshop for Silhouette owners who want to explore different aspects of their machine. Each month students will focus on one product or feature and learn all about it. Come try out a new technique and make your Silhouette work for you. Silhouette Workshops are monthly, casual mini classes designed to teach the Silhouette owner how to better use their machine. Basic Grey Page of the Month workshop Our Basic Grey Page of the Month workshop gets under way at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 21. This month students in the workshop will explore the use of Basic Grey's beautiful newest release of papers and embellishments from Olivia. Those attending should bring with them: paper trimmer, adhesive, ruler, scissors, black fine-tipped pen, green marker, corner rounder, circle punches is 1-inch, 1 1/2-inch and 2-inch. You may wish to bring photos to complete your layout: four 2 1/4-by-2 1/4 photos, one horizontal 3-by-5, one vertical 4 1/4-by-2 1/4, one horizontal 2 1/4-by-3 1/4 and two 1 1/4-by-1 1/4. Robin wins Shopping Spree!

And the winner is ...

Congratulations to Robin Swederske, winner of our Scrap Tales Shopping Spree! She immediately made her way to her favorite department at Scrap Tales - Inks and Tim Holtz - filling her basket with beautiful colors of the new Twinkling H2o's then plenty of Tim Holtz Idea-logy. When time ran out and items tallied the total was nearly $300. Way to go Robin! Can't wait to see what you create with all her winnings.

Robin is in good company with past winners Pat Roemmele who was our very first Spree winner in May 2006 and Terry Harmon, winner of the Spree in 2007. It's always a good time to come out and cheer them on and take advantage of other specials at that time. All-in-all it was a full day of fun and savings!
